In accordance with the results of September of this year, another drop in construction work was recorded on the construction market of Ukraine, or rather, their volume. Some more time will pass, and it will be possible to talk about the crisis level and the corresponding indicators. There are a number of rationales for such a rapid decline in construction volumes. In this context, it is impossible not to note the completion of construction activities to create infrastructure projects for the European Football Championship. The main reason is the ineffectiveness of the policy pursued by the state authorities, as well as the fact that the construction industry is not supported at all.
The State Statistics Service reports that in accordance with the results of the reporting period of nine months of this year, construction work on the territory of Ukraine decreased in volume by more than 9 percent, reaching an indicator of UAH 42 billion. It is also noteworthy that the decline in volumes is not seasonal, but is observed throughout the year. As an exception, one could consider only the month of May, when preparations for Euro-12 were carried out most actively. After that, the decline continued again at the pace that took place last year.
If a year earlier, construction work was most active in the summer period, then already in the current situation, a completely opposite situation is observed – a drop in construction volumes was also recorded in the most active period for the industry, in summer. All this once again testifies to the deplorable state of not only the Ukrainian industry, but also the country’s economy as a whole.
All construction projects are quite capital-intensive, which implies significant investment volumes. The construction industry practically does not feel the support of the state, which is so necessary for normal development. The low solvency of the majority of Ukrainians, as well as the poor quality of construction in the whole country, also makes itself felt.
