September 1, 1st grade, 1 trip to school, 1 teacher, 1 desk … and much more that your child will have for the first time on this significant day for him. But is only one future first-grader supposed to worry, rejoice, live in anticipation of the first day of autumn? No, no less responsibility falls on the shoulders of parents. And above all, it is the correct and timely preparation of your child for school life.
The first source of knowledge and the basics of discipline, manners and rules for a child is a kindergarten. And educators and parents are responsible for conveying all this to the future first grader. You can often hear the opinion that you can’t touch a child before school, they say, let him work up. An irresponsible, and to some extent even stupid, approach to raising children, which will later lead to a nervous breakdown, planted eyes, zero immunity, both for you and your child. But avoiding this is not so difficult, you just need to devote a little time to preparing for school, the psychological mood of the future first grader, avoiding extremes in this, which is not at all so difficult.
Just one of these extremes is the provocation by parents in a child of a sense of fear of school. They say that there will be no time to play, but they will constantly have to work in order to avoid the fate of a loser, a loser. The result of such an attitude to preparing for going to first grade is the association of the word “school” with fear and hatred. Therefore, do not go to extremes, the best option would be to talk with your child not only about discipline and homework, but also about the positive aspects of school life. School is a place where you can get not only new knowledge, but also make friends with whom he, perhaps, will connect his life for many years.
For a baby, going to first grade will be an exciting and reverent undertaking, you need to be prepared for this, this is normal, you can deal with it. However, it is much more unpleasant if the future first grader experiences excitement for a long time before the first of September. Here you have to take matters into your own hands and organize a small game. Arrange a small school class in the room, arrange soft toys and dolls, lay out books, pencils and pens, it is better if everything is bright, the child will take the environment literally, so colorful things will be associated with fun and kindness. Show your acting skills, play the role of a teacher, and when the kid asks for your place, you can assume that he has overcome his fear. He will definitely like this game.
Do you think that the more a child knows, the easier it will be for him at school? This is not entirely true, more often it is the other way around. Of course, if he already knows how to read and write, the first grade material will be easier to digest. However, if you go too far, taking a 4th grade mathematics course with him and giving the basics of a foreign language, the effect will most likely be the opposite of what you expected. After all, teachers give a standard program, not adapting to individual students, then the school will seem boring to the little “wunderkind”, and classmates – stupid. This happens often, and it’s better to think a few times before making a young polyglot or professor of mathematics out of a future first-grader.
Immediately before the start of school days, it is necessary to rearrange the child’s room, change it, find a place for a desk, notebooks, books, lesson schedules. Too many toys will also distract the future first grader, it should be felt that a schoolboy lives and works here, a student.
Naturally, parents will have to fork out for a new suit, stationery, textbooks, while it is better to involve your child in this matter, this will have a very beneficial effect on the moral of the child, set him up for school everyday life.
Be sure to buy a good bouquet of flowers, not the one that will look like a bird cherry bush in the hands of a small first grader, but a stylish small bouquet that, as it were, speaks of respect for the teacher.
The first of September is a day that each of us remembers, and how memorable it will be for a first-grader, first of all, depends on the parents.
